Always looking for a new workout, we decided to give P90x a try. Standing for the Power 90 Extreme workout, P90x definitely lives up to it’s name. Produced by Tony Horton, P90X is a member of the renowned Beachbody fitness family. P90X was so popular that it inspired many videos of the same magnitude, becoming a nationwide phenomenon.
Participants are given a workout schedule to follow closely for the next 90 days, and a calendar to track your progress. Users can workout to lose weight, build muscle, or maintain their current weight. Write down your goal on your calendar, and workout schedule, that way you never lose sight of why you are working out so hard! There are 12 DVDs to choose from in the P90X original set, and we fell in love with all of them!
The effectiveness of P90x lies within the variety of workouts. With a variety of DVDs to chose from, and a schedule to follow, it is almost impossible to “hit the wall” or “plateau” while on this program. The different workouts target different muscle groups, and the variety of moves and instructions keep your muscles moving in new and challenging ways. Not only does P90X keep you from plateauing, but the exercises help to prevent any injuries from sprouting up. With the injury rate almost non existent, there isn’t anything to keep you from hitting your goal!
Virtually no equipment is required, and while there is equipment you can purchase, it isn’t needed. Many users just need a Pilates or yoga mat to prevent any uncomfortable rug burn! But that is literally all that is needed. With no equipment there are no excuses, and nothing keeping you from an incredible workout.
